Jeremy Gustin, President, CEO
Jeremy Gustin has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from CSU Sacramento, and a Master’s degree from UC San Diego focused on advanced structural analysis. He has over 23 years of industry experience performing structural modeling, static and dynamic analysis, and testing of advanced mechanical and aerospace systems using finite element methods. His design and analysis experience of high performance lightweight structures covers a multitude of industries, including aircraft, space, optics, and sporting goods. His structural dynamics expertise has also afforded opportunities to support aeroelastic simulations for several manned and unmanned flight development programs.
Andy Kostuch, Director of Engineering, Herndon, VA
Andy Kostuch has a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Mechanics and Mathematics (2000) and a Master’s in Engineering Mechanics (2001) from the University of Wisconsin, with coursework and research activities focused on structural analysis, computational methods, and test-analysis correlation. His industry experience has centered on advanced mechanical analysis of aerospace systems for government and prime contractor clients. He has leveraged his experience over a broad range of applications including spacecraft, launch vehicles, aircraft, opto-mechanical systems, wind power systems, theme park attractions, medical devices, and basic research. With Quartus since 2001, Andy opened Quartus’ first eastern region office in 2009 to support a growing local client base. As Director he manages a diverse, responsive, and experienced engineering staff committed to providing customer-focused mechanical engineering solutions.
Brent Erickson, Director of Engineering, Analysis, San Diego
Brent Erickson has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from UCSD (2002). He has over 15 years of industry experience in the structural and thermal analysis and testing of aerospace and mechanical systems using finite element methods. He has broad experience leveraging advanced FEA for a variety of industries. His expertise is in the structural dynamics and STOP analysis, testing, and correlation of spacecraft structures, payloads, and optical systems. Brent has worked at Quartus since 2002 and now leads a group of nearly 40 analysis engineers with industry-leading capabilities in mechanical and aerospace analysis and simulation-driven engineering.
Graham Nelson, Director of Engineering, Systems, San Diego
Graham Nelson earned his Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, San Diego with focus in structural analysis and signal processing. He has 15 years’ experience in developing both high performance aerospace optical payloads as well as commercial calibration and metrology support of high volume manufacturing. He has specific experience with high altitude mapping and intermediate range LiDAR, high bandwidth laser communication, camera calibration, cryogenic infrared imaging, and supporting components and technologies for applications in laboratory, commercial-factory, field-terrestrial, aeronautical, and space environments. Beyond his general experience with project management/direction, his technical focus has been on system performance modeling, numerical analysis driven optical and opto-mechanical design, and comprehensive performance verification.
Brendan O'Shea, Director of Engineering, Systems, San Diego
Brendan O’Shea earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Physics from the University of California, San Diego. He has 13 years of hands-on experience developing system hardware, with a focus in electrical and software engineering. He has extensive involvement working on multi-disciplinary teams to develop full-system solutions. He has specific knowledge of RF system design and analysis, PCBA design from initial systems requirements through board bring up, hardware and software system integration, and image and signal processing. In addition to his design and analysis capabilities, Brendan has substantial lab and field test experience, from cleanroom testing and hardware modification to planning and preparation for onsite platform trials. His 10 years of personnel and program management combined with his extensive technical skillset give Brendan and his team the ability to creatively solve a wide range of customer needs.
Chris Flanigan, Technical Fellow
Chris Flanigan has Bachelor and Master's degrees in Aeronautics and Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He has more than 30 years of experience in aerospace structures and structural dynamics. He is an expert in using NASTRAN superelement methodology and DMAP programming for analyzing extremely large models and advanced dynamic analysis. Chris is one of the original Founders of Quartus Engineering, and formerly served as the Chief Financial Officer.
Mark Stabb, Ph.D, P.E., Technical Fellow
Mark Stabb has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and Physics, as well as a Master's and a Doctorate degree in Engineering Mechanics from the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Mark has over 25 years’ experience in performing structural and dynamic analysis of aerospace, mechanical and optical systems. He has extensive expertise in developing and applying advanced analysis methods and tools for satellite dynamics, flutter analysis, and advanced modal survey pretest methods. In addition, Mark is one of the original Founders of Quartus Engineering, having been its CEO for thirteen years and also served as its CTO. Mark is a registered Professional Engineer in the states of CA, VA, WA, and HI.
